We at Rive are very honored to have ‘Chef Roland Olah’ as our ‘Executive Chef’. Chef Roland is a long-time friend, former colleague, and respected Chef of Eric (Rive Bistro Owner). Chef Roland has a strong following in Fairfield County, and worked with Eric over 12 years ago, and maintained a respected connection ever since.

Originally from Budapest, Hungary, Chef Roland came to America just over 14 years ago having won a Green Card in the lottery. Recognized as one of the Top 10 Chefs in his home Country, he decided to walk away from this successful career and to start fresh in the USA. He knew he had to try it or else always look back wondering "WHAT IF"!

Chef Roland attended culinary school in Hungary from 14 years of age, and after many years of perfecting his skill set in the kitchen, he went on to receive a Masters Degree, and can proudly say he is a classically French trained chef. On arrival to the US, he spent a year under the tutelage of Daniel Boulud in New York City before deciding to put his roots down in CT. From 2011, he was Executive Chef at ‘Martel Bistro’ in Fairfield CT, before becoming opening Chef Partner at ‘Bruxelles Brasserie’ in South Norwalk CT, for over three years (2019-2022).

The past number of years he has won many awards in the CT area and featured in a number of magazine editorials. Most recent awards for his former restaurant:

For Chef Roland, food is his passion in life, and everything he cooks comes from the heart. He treats every guest as family sitting at his own kitchen table, and genuinely cares about your food experience. He hopes he can add his own special touch to the wonderful restaurant that Rive Bistro is, and in collaboration with owner Eric bring some new culinary energy and ideas to the restaurant, whilst elevating the flavors & presentations of the ‘Rive Classic menu items’ that people have grown to love!
